Fast Jef
Fast Jef holds a special place in the Fast Lines family. It was built in 1996. This is the same year as Jef, one of the grandkids of our founders', Simonne Vervoort and Herman Scheers, was born. This vessel is more than just a ship. It is a family connection. Beyond its maritime expertise, Fast Jef symbolizes strong family ties. Sailing proudly under the Belgian flag, it is crewed by skilled seamen. The vessel creates a unique blend of family, expertise, and national pride.
Low draft short-sea vessel
Fast Jef is a low draft short-sea vessel. It is designed for maximum flexibility in navigating inland waterways. Its operational range extends to key destinations like the shallow draft ports in the Humber Estuary and the Brussels-Scheldt Sea Canal. This shows its adaptability and reach. The vessel has a box-shaped design, with a rectangular cargo hold resembling a shoebox.
The crew on Fast Jef is dedicated and many have worked on the ship for ten years or more. For them, it is not just a job, it is like a second home. Fast Jef stands out in the maritime sector. It is accentuated by its distinctive red colour.
Fast Jef’s qualities
Fast Jef can carry up to 3100 tons deadweight (DWT). Its draught is 4.6 metres. This shows that Fast Jef is both strong and efficient, with a good balance in its design.
Its overall length (LOA) is 88 metres long while its width reaches 12.5 metres. Fast Jef is a reliable and versatile asset in the Fast Lines fleet. Fast Jef can ship most types of breakbulk cargo conveniently, safely and cost effectively.
Next to Fast Jef, our fleet family members are Fast Herman, Fast Sim and Fast Sus.
